In this season of giving thanks, our school had a food drive to benefit CARE, a humanitarian agency headquartered in Atlanta that is celebrating 70 years of helping those in need. The donation period was extended a week which helped increase the number of items brought to school. The CARE director for Turkey and Northern Syria spoke to our students about the impact their donations would make; each class make a sculpture of their donations, with the winning classroom being given a prize. All donations will be given either directly to families affected by the crisis in Syria or to food banks supporting Syrian refugees. The photos show boxes of food collected just by high school students; the early years (PreK and Kindergarten), elementary, and middle school students had their food weighed and counted in a different location on campus.
Very proud of the BLIS community!
